What are the most common causes for tight hamstrings or posterior legs?

Image may contain: one or more people

Unfortunately both of these are often overlooked:

1) Protective tension, which is muscular response to damaged tissue. This is that spasm in your back that spreads to your hamstrings, makes it difficult to walk, bend over or stand up from a chair. The muscles around the spine, hips and legs will contract in order to protect an injury to your spine or hip area. Repeated injuries can eventually cause chronic tight feeling in the legs.

2) Nerve entrapment, which is when the nerves get stuck to surrounding tissues. This will cause excessive tension, pain, burning and tingling. The most common spot in the body for this to occur is where the sciatic Nerve lies against your buttock muscles. Sitting for prolonged periods of time at your job puts you at higher risk of getting your sciatic nerve stuck.

If you have "tight hamstrings" or feel like your legs are always tight, even with stretching, you probably already have one of these issues. You need to have an assessment to have a proper diagnosis.

We treat adhesion at the sciatic nerve daily, as it is that common. Call us for a consultation.

The good news is that adhesion is reversible! Dr. Eric Lambert and Maggie Zick at Discover Chiropractic and Soft Tissue Clinic specialize at finding and fixing adhesions. Even if you are reading this and already have degeneration, arthritis, or a tear you can still see improvement in your function and pain. In fact, the majority of patients that we help have seen multiple providers and not received the care they need because adhesion is the most misdiagnosed condition. They both are certified to manually fix conditions from head to toe. Most of us know a lot of people with chronic pain that aren’t getting the help they need.  Call us at 616.956.1112 or click here to schedule an appointment.
