The deep upper neck muscles, also known as the suboccipital muscle group.

The suboccipital muscle group, includes the rectus capitis posterior major and minor, and obliquus capitis superior and inferior. These muscles in the deep part of the upper neck play an important role the cervical spine. Their job is to allow movement of the upper neck and also help to stabilize your head and neck.

Typically, anyone who spends a lot of time sitting at a computer, looking down to read, or looking down to use their phone for long periods of time, has issues with one of these muscles. If you experience pain or tightness in the neck, upper back or have headaches, one or more of these muscles can be part of those problems when they are not functioning properly.

Adhesion is one of the main reasons these muscles do not function properly. Adhesion acts like glue in your muscle, decreasing range of motion, causing weakness and increasing pain. If you don’t have full range of motion, you can’t have a healthy neck.

Luckily adhesion is completely reversible with expert treatment. Some of the best musculoskeletal doctors in the world are trained in the Integrative Diagnosis system and excel in   diagnosing and treating adhesion.

Here is treatment of the upper cervical muscles using Manual Adhesion Release ™ (MAR)

Don’t wait until things get so bad that drugs and surgery are your only option.
